RV Roof Care & Maintenance-How to protect what’s overhead…?

One of the most ignored area of the RV or mobile home is the roof. Unless something bad happens it remains neglected. If, you don’t keep up with regular roof care and maintenance you would end up spending thousands of dollars on expensive repairs. If you want to get maximum life out of your camper or mobile home, here are some things you can do.

Preventive Maintenance

First of all preventive maintenance of the roof should be done on regular basis to reduce the likelihood of its surface deterioration. It includes proper drainage of water on roof to avoid any pooling of water. Avoid excessive walking on the roof. While washing the roof go for mild cleaning detergents and don’t use harsh chemicals or petroleum products as they can damage the rubber roof. Protect the roof from punctures and tears and use RV Roof Magic as needed.

Periodic Inspections

It is also recommended to do periodic inspections of RV roof at least twice a year. Not only the roof coating but the entire roof should be inspected to find out areas requiring immediate attention or issues which may likely cause problem in near the future. In addition to periodic inspections also inspect the roof after the RV is exposed to extreme weather conditions like hail or wind storm. If you live in the area where rain is always on the move, use RV Roof Magic as it prevents water ponding.

Cleaning

Coated surfaces should be cleaned bi-annually to maximized longevity and minimize chances of any deterioration of the coating due to environmental factors. For manual cleaning purpose, a garden hose and soft brush should be used to soften and remove the debris. Before and after the cleaning find out areas on the surface needing repair and document those to see if they are becoming a frequent issue. Recoat the coating if it has discolored to refresh it.
